On the Spring 2024 Ballot

Please remember to vote next Tuesday, April 2! Find your polling place at https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/Find-My-Polling-Place

Early voting is already under way, at 19 E Irving Avenue, Oshkosh WI 54901(https://www.oshkoshwi.gov/CityClerk/Elections.aspx)

There are four school board candidates running for three seats:

We support the incumbents, Beth Wyman, Kristopher Karns and Chris Wright.

Let’s make sure they are able to continue their good work.

Thanks to their vision and hard work, Oshkosh students have been in their brand new Vel Phillips Middle School since last September, and students will soon have a second one, Menominee Elementary, opening this fall.

The development and continuation of the school district’s long term facilities plan is something SOS has supported since it was created in 2014.

Beth Wyman, Kristopher Karns and Chris Wright have shown their willingness to put in the day to day work of guiding the district. They help superintendent Bryan Davis and the OASD’s executive team continue to break new ground with the facilities consolidation plan, the Facilities Advisory Committee 2.0 for new athletic and performing arts facilities, literacy initiatives, the development of OASD key performance indicators. All of this ensures that the district continues to improve in measurable ways.

Good news from the district:

  • With over $600,000 in annual savings resulting from the opening of Vel Phillips Middle School, the building will pay for itself over its lifetime.
  • Because the district has been paying down debt early, a $160 million series of projects with interest and with pre-payments has been reduced to about $120 million.
  • Oshkosh North and Oshkosh West were ranked #1 and #3 in Fox Valley Area, higher than Kimberly, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s 2022-2023 school report cards (also see the OASD news item)
